Wanderlust
Ever since I was first taken on holiday by my Mum and Dad to Portugal way back when I was about 10 years old I’ve LOVED being abroad. I think my wanderlust was well and truly sparked when I first went to Greece as a young teenager. The island of Santorini was a jewel in the middle of the Aegean Sea and I knew I just had to visit the rest of them! And so…the dream of island hopping around Greece was born and has been simmering ever since…
Over 10 years on
Fast forward just over a decade and I’m now in my mid-twenties. I’ve been and done school, college and university. I’ve dipped my toe into the world of work, had nice cars and bought a house… But, still swimming around in my head was that idea that there is SO much more to life than just working day in day out to pay for a life that felt like it was all for show. I truly felt like I was living just to go to work and to pay for the facade and honestly…what is the point in that?!
During one of my many sessions on Pinterest…I stumbled across all those amazing, inspiring ‘Travel Quotes‘ and they kick started me into doing something with my life. Work can wait. I won’t ever be able to have these years of my life back when I’m still young enough to go travelling, ‘rough it’ yet still enjoy it!
Decisions
And so. The decision was made. Let’s get rid of everything that just wasn’t making us happy and leave. Leave to travel the world and see what is really out there. Immerse ourselves in new experiences and find out who we really are and what we actually want from life.
And do you know what? It’s the best decision we’ve ever made. Yes, it was hard to part with all the ‘things’ that we acquired but what we’ve seen and done so far has made it so worth it! (And so far we’ve only been to The Netherlands and France!)
